Last Will and Testament of

Daniel PATTERSON

of Centre Township, Guernsey County, State of Ohio

I Daniel Patterson, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life & being of sound mind & memory (blessed be the Almighty God for the same) do I make & publish this my last Will & Testament in manner & form following (that is to say) first I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Hannah Patterson all that messuage or tract of land whereon I now live lying & in the County aforesaid being the South east quarter of Section four of Township two Range two (of the unappropriated land in this military district) to have & to hold the said tract, Messuage or quarter of land with the improvements, rights, profits & privileges, belonging or in anywise appertaining to the same during her natural life. I further give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Hannah Patterson all my household & kitchen furniture one milk cow & six sheep. Item I give & bequeath to unto my Grand daughter Zeeba Patterson daughter & heir at law of my son William Patterson six head of sheep to be delivered to her so soon as she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years. I will that all my goods and chattles (viz) cattle, hogs, sheep, farming utensils, Etc. except those demized to my beloved wife Hannah Patterson, be sold by my Executors at publick sale & the proceeds arising from the same togather with the debts owing to me at any decease: after paying all my Just debts debts by me owing at my death togather with my funeral expences & all charges touching theproving of or otherwise concerning this my last will be equally divided between my sons James Patterson, Stout Patterson, Robert Patterson, Jonathan Patterson, Elias Patterson & my daughters Deborah Stull, Elizabeth Armstrong & Hannah Kirkpatrick & share alike. It is further my will that at the decease of my beloved wife Hannah Patterson my real estate that is to say the above described tract or quarter section of land be sold by my Executor or his legal representative at public sale or otherwise as the legatees may agree & the proceeds or monies arising from the same equally divided amongst my children (viz) James Patterson, Stout Patterson, Robert Patterson, Jonathan Patterson, Elias Patterson, Deborah Stull, Elizabeth Armstrong & hannah Kirkpatrick share & share alike. I do further hereby make & ordain my son Stout Patterson sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament: hereby revoking all former Wills by me made; In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the twenty-fifth day of April in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty-five.

The State of Ohio Guernsey County At May Term, 1825; of the Court of Common Pleas of said County to wit on the seventeenth day of May A.D. 1825 the annexed will of Daniel Patterson, late of said County deceased was produced in open Court by Stout Patterson, the Executor therein named, for probate, & Joseph Eaton one of the subscribing Witnesses to said Will being.
