William SERGEANT (b 1820/VA) m. 1843/Highland Co. to Emily CREED. Two children are buried at Prospect Cemetery, Washington Twp/Highland Co: Matthew M. Sergeant (b 1864/Highland Co-1864 [two days old]), and one has no name (bca 1857-Mar 1858). Need to know how to get the first name. Does anyone research Prospect Cemetery? Any information on this family is appreciated.

Seeking info on Hargles "Hector" MURPHY (1751/Antrim Co Ireland-17 Sep 1835; bur Redkey Cemetery) who m Cathrine McCLOUD (1764-1 Sep 1836). Their son, Andrew (1797- 25 Aug 1834; bur Redkey Cem) m 28 Jun 1821 by John Chapman to Mary CHAPMAN. Their son James Alexander (11 Jun 1828/Buford, Highland Co) m 19 Jan 1854 Eliza Ann CRABB (d 02 Sep 1893) whose son George Washington (b 12 Aug 1866/Adams Co) m. 02 Dec 1886 Ella POND (d 10 Feb 1945). Their son, James Alexander (b 13 May 1892) m. 31 Dec 1913/Peebles, Pike Co to Margaret Pearl WHITE (b 13Nov 1893, dau of Preston P and Jennie (WRESTLER) WHITE). Any information on any of these persons would be greatly appreciated! Would also like any info on location of Redkey Cemetery, and an area or stream called Smokey Row or Smokey Run.

Searching for origins of John HILL (bca 1760; mca 1799 Rebecca SEMANS) who resided Jefferson Co. in 1809; signed power-of-attorney document in Washington Co. on 24 Jul 1809, and settled in Highland Co. by 1812. John HILL may have been related to Robert HILL (b 1761 County Down/Ireland; m Rosamund WELSH) who served in PA militia in Rev. War and moved from Washington Co. PA, to near Steubenville/Jefferson Co. OH, in 1806.

I am seeking any information about Isaiah ROW/ROWE (b 17 Nov 1756) and Jesse ROW/ROWE (b 21 Jan 1755). They settled in the Fayette/Highland Co area. Local genealogy states that they are brothers. I have found Jesse in Louisa Co VA with parents but there is no Isaiah. Does anyone have information on these two?

Samuel and Mary Ann are buried in Winchester Cemetery, Adams Co.

Looking for info on Henry Clay WHITE (25 Dec 1830-30 Nov 1915/Highland Co; son of Samuel WHITE [d 1868/Adams Co] and Catherine (Katie) PARSON) who married Emily Jane ALLEN in 1854. He had at least 6 children between 1861-1876. He lived in Adams Co 1870-1880. Does anyone know anything about the WHITE/ALLEN/PARSON families?

The family of Caleb FALKINBURG went to Highland Co. about 1820. They came from Monmouth County, New Jersey. I have no information on this branch at all. Would appreciate any probate or deeds records.

I am looking for information on the HUGHES family. Mainly, I am interested in finding the parents for Wesley HUGHES (born about 1817 in Ohio) and Mary "Polly" HUGHES (born abt 1830 in Ohio). Wesley HUGHES married Catherine LEWIS (before 1840). Likewise, Wesley's sister Mary HUGHES married Zachariah LEWIS in Brown Co. July 8, 1824. Both families can be found in 1850 in White Oak Twn. Before they move to Adams Co. Moreover, John MAHAFFAY, 91, is living with Wesley in 1850. I have more information. Searching for information on William POLAND born February 25, 1792, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He died Janaury 2, 1865, Hendricks County, Indiana. Son of John POLAND (1754-1823) and Sarah Smock BENNET. William Poland married Mary SWADLEY, daughter of Nicholas SWADLEY (1770-1847) and Elizabeth HEVENER (1771-1826).
Children:
1. Matilda POLAND born about 1810.

STEWART - Looking for a James Stewart born in Scotland 1790 and died in Hillsboro, Ohio; Highland Co. Think he married a Elizabeth STEEN on 13 July 1824. They had four children: Noah, 1828; Harmond, 1829; William Peyton, 1930; and Elizabeth. I believe that Noah and his wife Alciuda died in Ohio. Harmond and William Peyton went to Mo., the whereabouts of Elizabeth (their sister) is unknown. In the 1850 Census William Peyton STEWART and his wife Margaret SHAW were living with her parents in Concord, Ohio; Highland Co. They had seven children: Justus Henry, 1851; Amanda I, 1854; William Beecher, 1859?; Margaret A., 1861; Lilian, 1867; Lizzie L., 1869; and Anna. I believe Margaret SHAW died in Ohio, and then the family members moved to Almartha, Mo. Ozark Co. One of their seven children is my second-great grandfather, William Beecher STEWART, he was born in Fairfax, Ohio in Highland Co. around 1858-1861.

Any information on these people or perhaps any books of cemeteries in the area would be helpful. Thank You.

My g-g-g-g grandfather was Samuel Dalton. He was born in Pittsylvania County, VA in 1792. I know that he married Ludah Mustain on July 9, 1809. Sometime after that he moved to Hillsboro, OH. I know of three of his children. I have indenture papers on Drury, a son that he left there when he went to Knox County, IL. I also believe he had at least two other children Avery, and Lucy, who is my g-g-g grandmother. I would like to know if anyone knows of any other family he may have left in Highland County, OH. I have found a girl Celah, and a daughter Zoe, but cannot authenticate them to be his. If anyone can give me any help I would appreciate it.

THOMPSON - My sisters & I began our research almost two years ago. We have been rewarded with a good deal of information, however, it seems that we have hit a brick wall with our ggg grandfather - Josiah Thompson! The information we have is that he and his son, William (1), came to Clinton County, Ohio "in the early day". His son William - b.1798 in Pa. or De., d. 1876 - Wilmington, Ohio, had a son, William (2) b. 1836 - Wilmington, Ohio, who had a son, Wilson - b.1878 Wilmington, Ohio. d. 1939 - Celina, Ohio, who had a son, Wayne Howard Thompson, b.1909 - Harlan, Indiana, d. 1976, Dayton, Ohio. Wayne was our father. Any information you could share regarding any of the above would be greatly appreciated - but Josiah is our mystery man!
