BARKER SCHOOL

The Certier family operated a log cabin storeroom southwest of the location of Lafferty's store (later, Honolulu, P.O.) Near the location, a log building known as the Barker school, was used but disappeared before the Civil War started. On the south side of the Country road now called Murtland East, the Brown schoolhouse was erected and used for many years.
