RITES HELD WEDNESDAY FOR LT. ROBERT THOMPSON


Private services for Lt. Robert G. Thompson son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter H. Highland County, who was killed in action in Italy, April 20, 1945, will be held Wednesday at the Davis funeral home in New Vienna, with burial following in the IOOF cemetery there Rev. F. H. Smith will officiate.

A graduate of New Vienna High School in the class of 1943, he was engaged in farming with is father prior to enlisting at Patterson Field of Dayton in November of 1943. He went oversees in January, 1945, and was serving with the 12th Air Force in the Italian war theater when he was killed in plane crash. He was pilot of P-47 fighter plane. He was reported missing in May of 1945, and his death confirmed a few weeks later. He was 21 years of age at the time of his death. He was holder of the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Silver Star. His parents are the only survivors.
