Alexander Scroggs & Lavinia Rogers Scroggs

SCROGGS FAMILY OF EARLY ROSS COUNTY , OHIO

Alexander Scroggs was born in Cumberland County, Pa . in 1777 to James Scroggs 
and Eleanor Jacks.  He died  on 9 Jan 1851 and is buried in Hope Cemetery, Ross Co. Ohio. 
He came to Ross Co early and it is suspected that he came from Pennsylvania via Kentucky 
where he probably married maybe Martha Finley?? as a first wife.  He was married a 
second time to Elizabeth Holliday in Ross Co in 1826.  He lived in buckskin township. 
He was an officer of the United Presbyterian Church of Greenfield. His land was about 
l mile north of Fruitdale, adjoining the land of John Collier.  These are the children, not 
sure of  the mothers.

1. Alexander Scroggs born 1805 Ross co. Ohio and died 12 Nov 1862 in Highland Co.
He married Lavinia Rogers ,daughter of Thomas Rogers and Polly McCoy 
2. James A. Scroggs  married Frances Eleanor Emery on 17 Sept 1823
3. Margaret Scroggs married Parnell Butler on 28 Apr 1825 in Ross Co
4. Rachel Scroggs born about 1828 in Ross Co probably daughter of Elizabeth Holliday and she  
5.  married Mifflin M. Buffington
6. Jane Scroggs born ross Ohio and married JohnWright 13 Jan 1833 inRoss , Ohio
