This cemetery, established in 1904 by a Mr. Pomroy, is located about nine miles east of Stringtown on property now owned by Clyde Williams. It is rather difficult to get to, and it would be best to stop at Fugate Lumber Company about a mile west of the Williams home and ask directions. Mrs. Viva Fugate whose father, Mr. Armstrong helped establish the community and for whom it is named, accompanied us to the site and named each grave including those which have no identification and has written records to support her. The cemetery is no longer used and was in need of cleaning, but was well fenced. It was canvassed November 24, 1981, by Gwen Lowry Walker, ad Ruth Ishmael. On that date it contained 13 stones, and at least 19 unidentified graves.

I am placing this picture here so everyone can see what has happened to this cemetery since the land was recently purchased. Cattle have knocked over the head stones, and it is in very bad condition.

Other NO STONE, Mrs. Fugate referred to this grave as that of "The Stranger." She said a man rode into the area about 1905, and apparently died of natural causes while camped near the old Beetie Tedford spring. Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Beck, and some others found the body which carried no identification, brought it to the cemetery and buried it.
