I have briefly searched the Atoka Library to no avail in finding records about my g-grandmother, Susannah (Sukey) James, during the mid 1800's. She lived in Choctaw Nation I. T., with her parents and a brother. Near the end of the Civil War (1865) she married Valentine McAnally (called "Mack" and member of an Indian brigade.) Their names with two children appeared on a Chickasaw Annuity Roll of 1876. A researcher at OK. Hist. Society said JAMES family was hard to trace, because of such a short life span.

G.W. Grayson and Sukey James' husband (Valentine McAnally) were cousins and fought throughout that area during the Civil War. Thanks for posting the information. Bob & Mary Reed Bob Reed
