HONORABLE
Last year I drove a span of mules
Hitched to a walking plow;
People voted me an office~
I am "Honorable" now.
Last year I fed and slopped the hogs
And milked the brindle cow;
I campaigned and I got there
So I am "Honorable" now.
Last year I worked and earned my bread
In the sweat of my own brow;
This year I stick my feet upon a desk
For I am "Honorable" now.
Fine gentlemen will clasp my hand
Fair ladies smile and how!
Last year I was an "old hay-seed"
But I am " Honorable" now.
There's one more thing I'd like to say
Then make my little bow~
If I was just plain Mister then,
Why am I " Honorable" now?
