Tumbling from the fountains
Clear and pure and cold
Rumbling down the mountains
Ages, ages old.
Lashing around the ledges
Swirling merrily
Flashing thru the sedges
Whirling wild and free.

Pouring down the cataracts
Leaping up in spray
Roaring din that counteracts
The quietness of day
Dashing round the boulders
Set in sheltered bowers
Splashing mist on shoulders
Decked in gorgeous flowers

Sweeping now in torrents
Never, never still
Creeping on in indolence
Down below the mill
Hurling misty rainbows
Down the rocky main
Purling where the grain grows
On the Joaquin plain.

Breaking into billows
From the granite edge
Shaking all the willows
Standing as a hedge
Turning into whirlpools
Bubbling up in foam
Spurning all the swirlpools
As I onward roam

So with never lanquor
Whether night or day
Flow I down by Sanger
Upon my boisterous way
Bringing joy and bounty
For the Tulare's plain
Clinging to the sunshine
To from the clouds again.
