Dorothy L. Brown, daughter of Dean B. and Hazle (Fugitt) Lewis, was born January 21,1928, in Longview, Washington. She passed from this live on September 27, 2004, at Shattuck Memorial Hospital in Shattuck.
She grew up in Longview, Washington.
On October 25, 1952, she was united in marriage to Marvin D. Brown in Eugene Oregon. The moved to Higgins, Texas in 1961, where she owned and operated Dots Beauty Spot for 23 years, retiring in 1992.
Dorothy attended the first Baptist Church in Higgins, Texas.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin (Brownie) Brown; her father and mother, Dean Benton and Hazle Elizabeth Lewis one son, Billy Marvin Brown; one daughter, Sandra Thrasher, her husband Dwight and children Penny and Robert; one brother, Dean Bud Lewis; and one sister Hazle Kathleen Lewis.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Christine L. Hindes of Pampa, Tex., and Barbara Johnson of Elk City; one son, David W. Brown and daughter-in-law Jackie Hocutt of Higgins, Tex.; one grandson, Marvin Wayne (Sam) Hindes; two granddaughters, Christie Short and husband Gaylon and Valorie Monroe and husband James; two great-grandsons, Jamie and Dalton and a host of loving friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 1, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Higgins, Tex., with pastor Clifford Baze officiating. Interment was in the Higgins Cemetery in Higgins, Tex., with the Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck in charge of arrangements.
