A service of rememberance was held at the First Baptist Church in Arnett, Okla., on Saturday, October 7, 2000, at 11:30 a.m. for Alma L. "Tony" Buckles. Reverend Terry Jackson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Arnett officiated. Interment was held also on October 7, at the DeBolt Cemetery, Arnett, Okla., at 10:00 a.m. , under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home of Arnett, Okla.
Alma L. "Tony" Buckles was born July 29, 1910, at Belva, Okla., to Frederick and Donna Elizabeth Hudgins Decker. She passed from this life on October 4, 2000, at the age of 90.
Alma, known by all as "Tony", attended grade school at Belva, graduating from Cherokee High School. She attended college at Oklahoma State University and graduated from Cherokee Nursing School as a Registered Nurse. Tony worked in Cherokee and Enid hospitals as well as being a private nurse.
Tony married E. L. Buckles on June 6, 1931. After their marriage, they moved to Arnett where they made their lifelong home. In February 1940, they opened Buckles Grocery and Department Store where they serving the Arnett and surrounding communities until 1984.
Tony was an acitve and faithful member of the First Baptist church of Arnett.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, five brothers and four sisters.
Tony is survived by her husband: E. L. Buckles of Arnett; two daughters, Betty J. Scargrough and husband,Jewett of Pampa, Tex., and Juditn Nelson and her husband, Corky, of Belton, Tex.; one granddaughter: Melanie Fleming and her husband, Alan of Midland, Tex; one brother: Richard decker and wife, Lillian of Riverside, Calif.; stepmother: Attie Decker of West Plains, Missouir; three half sisters, Pauline Adams and husband, Charles of West Plains, Missouri, Lucille Rucker of Amarillo, Tex., and Norma Gerdes of Gower, Missouir; two half-brothers: Gene Decker and wife, Deloris Jean and Roy Decker, all of West Plains, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Zene
