Interment was held in the DeBolt Cemetery, Arnett, Okla., under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home of Vici, Okla.

Ivan Clearwater was born January 8, 1914, to Helen and James Clearwater at their home in the Reason Community in Ellis County, Okla. He departed from this life on January 12, 1994, at the age of 80 years and 4 days.

He grew up in the Ioland and Eddie Community and attended school there. In 1935 he left Oklahoma and traveled to California, Washington, and Oregon. He repeated this westward journey for the next two years. He returned to Oklahoma in 1939.

He married Katherine Cooprider on August 24, 1940, in Woodward, Okla.

Ivan and Katherine lived and farmed south of Cheyenne, Okla., for the first several years of their married life. In 1944 they moved to the family farm three and one-half miles east of Arnett. Between 1950 and 1956 Ivan ran the Texaco Service Station in Arnett, and they lived in town. After this they returned to the family farm and stayed there until Ivan retired in 1974.

With the exception of his brief tenure in the Service Station, Ivan's life work was farming. A good stand of cotton or maize was a source of pride to him.

He followed Major League Baseball all of his life and was an avid Dodger fan. In his later years he greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and their activities.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Clearwater. In 1899 he lost his oldest son, Donald Clearwater.

Ivan leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Katherine of the home; his daughter Bernice, her husband, Omar McKerrow, and their three sons, Gary, Mark, and Jeff, of Kansas City, Missouri; his daughter Eulena, her husband, Jim Howe and their children, David and Amanda of Tulsa, Okla.; his daughter Lola, her husband, Ted Maxfield, and their children, Sarah, Katie, and Thad of Arnett, Okla.; his son Larry and his children, Keith,, Krystal, and Tammy of Arnett; his son, Jimmy, his wife Lisa, and their children, Shane and Raven of Little Axe, Okla.; a sister, Ruby Wild of Riverside, Calif; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of friends and neighbors.
