Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Apostolic Faith Church for Charley Orval Cox, 84, who passes away at his home in Arnett, Oklahoma Sunday, November 12. He had been in failing health for several years, but always had a cherry smile for all who visited him.
Charley Orval Cox was born April 2, 1877 at Sharden County, Mo., and departed this life November 12, 1961 at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 10 days at his home in Arnett, Oklahoma.
In the year of 1896 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Inz. To this union were born five children. Mrs. Cox passed away when the children were small. Mr. Cox later remarried to Inez Dickson. To this union was born one daughter.
He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge and Woodsman Lodges in his early days. He took God as his savior in middle life. He was a wonderful husband and father, and made friends with both young and old.
Surviving are his wife Inez Cox of the home; two sons Emery and Jim of Wichita, Kans.; two daughters; Beulah Walters of Wichita; Iva Alderson of Yates Center Kans.: three stepsons; Melba, Marvin and Alvin Dickson of Arnett; two sons preceded him in death. They were Marvin and Leslie Cox. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment was in DeBolt cemetery, Shaw Funeral Home in charge.
