Funeral services for Luther S. Elmore, 88, long time City employee, were held Sunday, June 15, at 3:00 p.m. at the United Methodist church with the Rev. Gerald Main officiating.
Interment was in the Shattuck cemetery under the direction of Mason Funeral Home.
Elmore died early Friday morning at the Convalescent Center.
A native of Cherryvale, Kan., he moved with his family to a farm 8 miles south of Gage in 1900.
He married Fern Garringer Jan. 8, 1911. In 1918 they moved to their present home at 606 E. 2nd. He has served as a City councilman, Chief of Police and was police dispatcher until his retirement in 1976.
Survivors include his wife and son, Luther of the home; sons Lloyd and Brunell, Shattuck, and Harold, Santa Barbara, Calif., four grandsons; one great-grand son; three great-grandsons; one great great granddaughter; 3 sisters, Dulcie Potter, Helena, Mont., Flora Mineses and Lois Wilson, Denver, Colo.; two borthers, George of Arnett and R. T. of Clinton.
