Helen Cordelia "Cordie" Holloway was born to George and Ethel Wright on March 23, 1923 at Tipton, Oklahoma. She passed away at the Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton, Texas, at the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 24 days.
Cordie attended school and graduated from Lang High School in 1941. She attended Draughns Business College in Oklahoma City and worked for Western Union. Later moving to Arnett and working for Farmers Home Administration.
Cordie and Vaden Holloway were united in marriage on June 26, 1950 at Kenton, Oklahoma by Rev. Charles Mitchell. To this union was born, Linda Carol at Shattuck, Oklahoma, Joe Kevin at Canadian, Texas and Melanie Joyce at Perryton, Texas.
Cordie moved with her family as Vadenís school teaching positions changed from Arnett to Canadian and then to Perryton. She was always supportive helping Vaden and their family in whatever they needed. She loved to read and to travel and was always the designated driver. In later years she liked her John Wayne movies. Her grandchildren were very, very special to her.
She was a member of the Peoples Chapel in Perryton, Texas. She was very involved with Vadenís career and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Texas Association of Aerospace Teachers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Wright; her son Joe in 2002; three brothers; George "Buddy" Wright, Hollis Wright and Dudley Wright; and three sisters: Marie Venable, Nell Wright and Vaughn Hash.
Cordie is survived by her husband, Vaden of the home in Perryton, Texas; two daughters: Linda Rima of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Melanie Holloway of Austin, Texas; daughter-in-law: Casandra Holloway of Lubbock, Texas; and five grandchildren: Mike Rima of Denton, Texas, Brian Holloway and Shelby Holloway of Perryton, Texas, Joseph Holloway and Andrew Holloway of Lubbock, Texas; one sister: Robbie Hughes and husband, Bob of Norman, Oklahoma; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Rex and Aldyth Holloway of Arnett, Charles Mitchell of Wickenburg, Arizona and Paula and Ray Bob Floyd of Gilbert, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Services were held October 19, 2003, at the Shaw Funeral Home, Arnett, Oklahoma, with interment at DeBolt Cemetery. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Arnett, Okla.
