Reva A. Latta, 94-year-old Fargo resident, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005 in the Mooreland Heritage Manor. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2005 in the First Presbyterian Church in Woodward with Dr. Richard McFarlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Reva Arlene (Atkinson) Latta was born Sept. 2, 1911 to Lyle and Edith (Dobson) Atkinson at Goltry, Okla. They moved to a farm north of Fargo in 1912 when Reva was 8 months old. Reva grew up north of Fargo and attended school at the Greenwood Country School. On Feb. 1, 1931 she married John H. Latta. There were five children born to this union, Dwight, Ernest, Patti, Joyce, and John W. Reva and John lived on their farm north of Fargo where all their children were born for 71 years of their married life.
Reva was a member of the Presbyterian Church in the Greenwood community and later in Woodward. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Club and Home Demonstration Club. She loved to sew for her children, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. She was a housewife and loving mother who loved to fish and always had a huge garden. She attended all her children's basketball games and kept score of every game.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, two sisters, Mary Margaret and Thelma, one grandson, J.D. Thomas and one granddaughter, Ruthie Hamilton.
She is survived by five children, Dwight Latta and wife Sue of Ft. Supply, Ernest Latta and wife Dorothy of Amarillo, Texas, Pat Highfill and husband Bob of Mooreland, Joyce Hamilton of Fargo and John W. Latta and wife Rella of Ft. Supply; twelve grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; four sisters and four brothers, Kathrine Latta Gilbert of Mooreland, Buster Atkinson of Garden City, Kan., Lucille Wisner Champ of Fargo, Bud Atkinson of Pueblo, Colo., Faye Purvis of Beulah, Colorado, Betty Martin of Pueblo, Colo., Leon Atkinson of Ft. Smith, Ark. and Keith Atkinson of Florence, Colo.; special friends, Jack and Lois Haines, Marvin and Mary Brown, Dale and Barbara Milton, and John Lee and Evelyn Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenwood Cemetery Association with the funeral home as custodian of the fund.Remembrances may be shared on-line at www.billingsfuneralhomewoodward.com
