Aged Soldier at Rest.
John Snyder Sr. who for a number of years has been afflicted with asthma, died at his home in this city Sunday morning, at the advanced age of 75 years, 7 months and 14 days.
Mr. Snyder was a veteran of the Civil war serving in the Twenty-second Indiana Cavalry. He was born in Switzerland, December 31st, 1832. Mr. Snyder originally joined the Lutheran church but later joined the Christian church which faith he held throughout the remainder of his life.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday at 3 o’clock conducted by Rev. Lineback, and the ceremony at the grave was conducted by Rev. Davis.
Note: Headstone says John was born in 1834. Date of birth calculated from age given above at time of death gives birth as 01 Jan 1834.
