A whole string of dignitaries are included on the membership rolls of Guthrie Lodge No. 35, A. F. and A. M.

Besides numerous business executives, prominent attorneys and civic leaders, the lodge boasts the names of two territorial and one state governor as one-time members.

They are C. M. Barnes, who was appointed by President McKinley as territorial governor in 1897, William Jenkins, who succeeded Barnes as governor and M. E. Trapp, who was named governor of Oklahoma to fill the unexpired term of the impeached Jack Walton.

In 1893, four years before he stood over the reigns of territorial governor, Barnes was worshipful master of the Guthrie lodge.

Another prominent pioneer in the formation of the lodge was Dennis T. Flynn, a delegate to congress for eight years in the 1890's, and prominent in early day state activities.

Three members of the Guthrie lodge have achieved the rank of Most Worshipful Grand Master of Oklahoma - the highest office in the state Masonry. They are A. J. Spenger, E. M. Bamford, and Frank Derr. Bamford at one time was master of the local lodge.
