FARMER MURDER. Killed While Defending Hid Medical Son in Law.
Word comes from Stroud that messengers have arrived there bringing intelligence of the murder of David Taylor, a farmer, two miles east of Belmont, in Lincoln county, Oklahoma, in the early part of last night.
Dr. George Wallace, an elderly gentleman, two months ago married Taylor's daughter and began the practice of medicine at the latter's home. Wallace displayed a roll of money around the neighborhood.
Last night unknown parties called for a prescription. While filling it the doctor and his wife were covered with guns and their money was demanded. The request was refused and in the trouble Taylor came to the rescue and was shot. causing his instant death.
The parties escaped without booty to the Indian Territory. Officers started in pursuit immediately.
Captain W. W. Painter, of the Osage marshal's force at Gray Horse is quite a favorite with the cattlemen and Indian traders. Recently they made a special order for a fine revolver and the latest pattern Winchester, which they will present to the captain.
