'Teddy' Roosevelt Sent His Apology
Governor William M. Jenkins, was not removed. He held a recess appointment under McKinley, but President Theodore Roosevelt refused to re-appoint him to congress convened, saying, "He is not strong enough to cope with the Oklahoma crowd.
"Teddy" afterwards wrote the governor a letter of apology for his hasty action, which was a lot from him.
