Carnegie Library Corner Stone Inscription and Contents

Logan County, Oklahoma

The corner stone was laid at the southwest corner of the large building and is befittingly inscribed as follows on the south side with the words:
"The Guthie Library, Founded Mrch 14, 1900 by the City Federation of Women's clubs; Building Donated by Andrew Carnegie, October 17, 1901."
On the west side:
"First Library Board Appointed August 8, 1900 - Mrs. U. C. Guss, Mrs. O. R. Fegan, Mrs. W. L. Hrodes, Miss Sadie Paine, Robert W. Ramsay, F. R. Lillie; J. H. Bennett, architect; H. J. Vandenburg, contractor."
The box that was deposited in the corner stone contains the following:
