Early Hay Loads Give Clover Start In County
East of Guthrie and out through the Irvin and Meridian communities may be found clumps of sweet clover, growing in unexpected places.
These got their start from seed shattered off of hay shipped in to feed the teams, mostly mules, used in grading the roadbed for the Fort Smith and Western railway more than 50 years ago.
