Gum Manufacturer Got His Start In Guthrie
The Employees Building and Loan association offices marks the site of the early day Kimball Wholesale grocery where William Wrigley, a traveling salesman from Wichita, Kans, started the business that made him millions. He cut up sheets of paraffin with his pocket knife - sprinkling on a little flavoring extract and selling the finished product to the grocery stores of the towns where poor water and even poorer whiskey Updated a tremendous demand for something to keep chewing on.
