Proclamation by Mayor Hartman
The drowning of the American Soldiers who lost their lives with the sinking of the Tuscania reminds us of our duty as citizens of this Republic to use every mens and extend every sacrifice to support this war and the Chairman of the United States Shipping Board is calling on the people of this country, through the Council of Defense and it's subordinate branches, to enroll all mechanics or skilled laborers as shipyard volunteers and impresses on the general public the duty of giving this call the widest publicity.
Now, Therefore, I, John W. Hartman, Mayor of the City of Guthrie, do hereby call on every person who is a skilled laborer or mechanic to present himself at the office of the Mayor in the City Hall, at Guthrie, and be enrolled in this service of the country.
Done at Guthrie this 8th day of February, 1918.

  J. W. Hartman, Mayor
