Mr. Editor:-Please give us this space in your paper to announce to the public that during the din of war and battles of life and contentions of human strife, in the midst of drought and visited by hot winds, constantly looking for storms and cyclones, none of which came, in the midst of our disappointment in one of these things on Sunday last, August 12, quite an assembly met at the home of Father Estes, 7 miles south-west of Mulhall where the services of Elder Judd were called for. On arriving he received the proper papers of authority and at the hour of four o'clock he called to their feet from a sittin posture a young couple Carl A. Williams and Nancy M. Estes and with a very solemn ceremony he pronounced them husband and wife. After the ceremony those present partook of the refreshments, consisting of ice cream and cake, after which the guests dispersed for their homes leaving their good wishes with the young couple to go with them through the voyage of life.
A Guest
Years ago there were attending school in Louisville, Ky., Charles R. Phillips and Miss Emma Keeley. They became attached to each other and finally were engaged. At that time they were both but about 16 years of age and both easy of anger. The course of true love never does run smoothly and the lovers had a quarrel. It was not made up before they left school and each went away with an aching heart. Mr. Phillips went south and Miss Keeley went north. Later Miss Keeley married a man by the name of Evert, she supposing her boy lover to be dead. Becoming a widow she finally settled in Oklahoma near Mulhall. Mr. Phillips lately has been traveling agent for a large music house and part of his territory has been Oklahoma. Last Thursday he was in Mulhall in the interest of his house and was checking up with the music dealer there. While he was thus engaged a lady came into the store and wanted to buy some music. The lady's appearance attracted Mr. Phillips at once and he went to where he could see her. They both took a look at each other and the recognition was mutual. After a separation of sixteen years the old love was revived. Explanations followed and that evening Mrs. Evert became Mrs. Phillips and this morning the happy couple arrived in this city and both were full of connubial bliss as they could be. When seen by the reporter the groom was with Isaac Ochs getting his life insured for $2,000 in favor of his new wife. Mr. Phillips says he has hunted every place for his wife but never could find her and he has become so accustomed to scanning every lady he met with the hope of meeting her that he fears he will be unable to quit the habit. They leave for Kansas City in the morning.

A Sad Accident
Last Saturday during the storm a family consisting of a mother and two children, named McPeak, were drowned while crossing Skeleton creek. The creek was transformed into a raging mass of water and horses and all were swept away. Parties have been searching for the bodies but as yet none have been found. Mrs. McPeak and children were returning from a visit with friends.
Mr. Dyche, who is postmaster at Bowman, and who assisted in the search for the persons who were drowned in the Skeleton, was in Wednesday and reported that only two of the drowned had been recovered, Miss Hill and one of Mr. McPeak's children. Mr. Dyche says they had crossed the stream safely and were ascending the opposite bank when one of the horses balked, pushing the other and throwing the entire rig in the deep water below the ford. He does not think the creek was dangerously high at the time of the drowning and no accident could have occurred had both horses been true, besides he thinks Mrs. McPeak would not have driven into the stream while up to the dangerous line. This is a sad stroke the community as well as to the relatives of the deceased.
