Oklahoma's First Inaugural Ceremony

Oklahoma's first inaugural ceremony, when Charles Haskell took the oath of office at Guthrie, was celebrated by a feast of barbecued beef and a mock marriage of Miss Indian Territory to Mr. Oklahoma, in which the bride, as customary, took her husbands name.
