Ivan Blakley Browning, fireman third class, USNR, was sent home to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Browning, who live in Marshall a Purple Heart medal and its accompanying citation which he received.
The award was "for injury received as a result of enemy action in the south Pacific area on August 9, 1942", and the citation is signed by Admiral W. F. Halsey.
Browning entered service March 1, 1942, shipped out little more than a month later and was injured in August of the same year.



Kenneth Lowe, who is stationed ain England, has been promoted to staff sergeant, according to word received by his parents. mr. and mrs. W. S. Lowe.
Roy S. Alsbury has been promoted to corporal, and is now stationed at the army base at Topeka, Kas. Cpl. Alsbury is the son of Mrs. Eva Alsbury.
