Mr. Tobias Augustine died at his home in Perry Thursday evening November 20, at 4 o'clock and was buried on Sunday the 23rd. The funeral services were held at the house, Rev. Marten of the M.E. church preached the sermon, after which the remains were taken in charge by the Masons, of which order he was a member. Mr. Augustine was not as well known here personally as were members of his family, Mrs. D.C. Dwinnell and Miss Ella Augustine, both deceased, formerly well and favorably known here. The father and two daughters died of the same disease, consumption. Mr. Augustine was a native of Pennsylvania. From there he removed to Iowa where he was married. In 1855 he went to California and in 1865 located in Nimaha county, Kansas from there he came to Perry in 1894. He was held in high esteem, and the funeral was largely attended. Two sons from Cripple Creek, Colo., were present at the funeral.
We are indebted to E. Ward for the above items. Mr. and Mrs. Ward were old friends of the deceased and went up from here to attend the funeral Sunday.
