William Edward Austin, age 72 from Coyle of 814 S. Cottingham Street died August 26, 2003 unexpectedly at home. He was born December 11, 1930 in Wellsville, N. Y. the son of William and Mary (Williams) Austin. Bill was a 1948 graduate of Wellsville High School. He then served in the U. S. Navy for 4 years, before he entered Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He taught in Rochester, N. Y. for 10 years before moving to Oklahoma, where he was a science teacher at Coyle High School until he retired in 1993. He coached Basketball and track throughout his career. He was an active member of St. Mary's church in Guthrie, Oklahoma and had served in the capacity for the past 17 years.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Marlyn Dodge of Temecula, CA., Sylvia Tortora of Rochester, N.Y., a sister in law, Joanne Austin of Wellsville, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Blaine Austin in 1994.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday August 30, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 34 W. State Street in Wellsville, N. Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church 36 Maple Avenue in Wellsville, Rev. Rupert Arulvalan will be Celebrant. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville and memorial suggestions include the American Heart Association.
