Death of an Aged Citizen.
Cuthbert Bradwell was born in Durham, England, January 30, 1820. Came to the United States when about eight years old, and lived with his parents in Pennsylvania until about fourteen years of age. After this they removed to southwestern Wisconsin, twelve miles from Galena, Illinois, where he lived on the same farm for over fifty years. After Mr. Bradwell's children were grown and married, he sold his farm. At the opening of Oklahoma he came here where he has since resided. While he of late years did not often go to church on account of not being able to sit long at a time. He was religious. He never missed praying at his bedside before retiring, and upon getting up in the morning.
During the first years of the war, Mr. Bradwell's wife died suddenly of heart disease leaving him with six small children all under twelve years of age, the youngest being just six weeks old. In less than a year the oldest of the children, Eliza, died. He was thus forced to stay at home to look after his helpless family, while his inclination was to go to the front to fight for his country.
Mr. Bradwell departed this life July 15, 1901, aged 81 years, 5 months and 15 days. He leaves two sons and three daughters, who, with their families, mourn the loss of a kind father and loved grandfather.
Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at Mulhall, July 16. Rev. William Judd preached the sermon.
To the relatives of Grandpa Bradwell, now gone from among us forever, THE ENTERPRISE tenders words of sincerest sympathy and condolence, as they should feel comforted in the knowledge that Grandpa was a good man, and will be long missed from among us.
