A memorial service for Carl N. Brown, 46, a former math teacher in Cashion and Dover, Okla., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999 at Cashion Christian Church.
Carl was born to Lester Brown and Annabell Martin on March 13, 1953 at their family farm in Crescent, Okla. He died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999 in Tampa, Fl.
His early years were spent in Fairmont, Okla. and he graduated from high school at Cashion in 1971. He married Terry Smith in August 1971. They have two daughters, Rachel, 16, and Sarah, 13.
Carl graduated from Central State University, in Edmond, Okla. in 1975, receiving his master's degree in 1983. He taught school and coached sports for six years in Oklahoma before moving to Colorado where he taught and coached in the Montrose School District for 11 years. His entire life was spent either as a student or teacher. He was a Jeep tour driver for San Juan Scenic Jeep Tours in Ouray for 10 summers and loved being in the mountains.
Most recently, Carl had attended River Bible Institute in Tampa, Fla., where he was preparing for full-time ministry. The family returned to Montrose in August, and shortly thereafter, Carl was diagnosed with cancer.
Carl's great love was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and he delighted in sharing that love with those around him. He cherished family time with his wife and daughters and was a loving husband and father.
