Elbert S. Ballard was born near Carrolton, Illinois, on August 6, 1855 and died at Mangum, Okla., on Friday evening, April 14, 1916, being at the time of his death of the age of 60 years, 8 months and 8 days. On February 2, 1879 at Carrolton, Illinois, he was united in marriage with Mary S. Lee, who survives him. To this union were born four children. Howard O. Ballard of Wapoloo, Iowa, Harry L. Ballard of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Roy Worthington of Guthrie and Russell W. Ballard of Oklahoma City. He also leaves three grandchildren and one brother, Rev. Stephen D. Ballard of Pike County, Illinois and one half brother James H. Ward of Buluer, Illinois.
