Mass of Christian burial for Joseph A. R. Brassard, 65, of Guthrie will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 411 N. Elm in Guthrie, with the Rev. Denis Hanrahan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Guthrie.
Joe was born September 22, 1937 in Berlin, N. H. to George and Irene Brassard. He passed away August 10, 2003 at his son's home in Guthrie.
In 1956, Joe joined the United States Air Force and spent 22 years before retiring in 1978. A Vietnam-era veteran, his reputation as a special projects officer and patriot was unmatched.
He married Peggy Henley on July 12, 1958. Of the marriage there were two children: Mary and William.
Survivors include his loving wife, Peggy Brassard of Guthrie; one daughter, Mary Kiernan of Lebanon, Tenn; one son, William Brassardof Guthrie; one brother, Leon Brassard of New Bedford, N. H.; one sister Sylvia Toussaint of Weymouth, Mass.; two grand-children, two great-grandchildren, a host of loving nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bob, his sister Cecile, his mother and father and one nephew.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. A prayer vigil will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at 7 p.m. at Smith Memorial Chapel.
