Carnes Funeral services
for Clarence "Ted" Carnes, 93, of Stillwater, Okla., will be at 10:30 a.m.,
Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at Strode Chapel in Stillwater. Services will be
officiated by Pastor Marty Harkey. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens,
in Stillwater, under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Ted was born to
George and Mary Eliza (Phillips) Carnes on Sept. 11, 1906 in Marena, Okla. He
died Oct. 13, 1999 in Crescent, Okla. Ted attended Marena Schools. He married
Anna Matilda Thomas on Dec. 18, 1935 in Stillwater. He loved farming and the
land. He was a public school custodian for 26 years at Lincoln and Jefferson
Schools. He lived for his family and church. He will be remembered by his
family as their guiding light. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and
the Auxiliary Police Department. He was preceded in death by his parents,
wife, five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by one son, Marvin T.
Carnes and his wife Pat Carnes of Crescent; and a daughter, JoAnn Ferguson and
her husband Bill Ferguson of York, Neb. He is also survived by seven
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Larry Horn,
Harold Davis, Ron Ferguson, Vernon Langley, Bill Harsham and Vernon Hardwick.
