JUDGE GEO. E. CLAYTON, "EIGHTY-NINE," IS DEAD
Death claimed another long time citizen of Guthrie and Logan County yesterday evening, when Judge George E. Clayton passed beyond, after an illness that has kept him confined to a room in the Guthrie hospital for two months.
George E. Clayton was an eighty-niner; he came to Logan County among the very first when this country was opened to settlement a quarter of a century ago. For many years he lived at Waterloo, south of Guthrie, where he owned a fine farm and served as justice of the peace. In the 1910 election he was elected to the state legislature and served, with distinction. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having served as private and corporal in company D, 11th Ohio cavalry
The funeral will be held tomorrow under the direction of the G. A. R. of this city of which organization he was member.
