John A. Clark was born in Mt. Vernon, Ga., August 28, 1869. While he was yet a babe, his father died leaving, besides the little son, a wife and only daughter. He early took up his life's work, which was that of railway service. In 18990, at Barberville, Fla, he was married to Sarah E. Underhill. But one son, Elmer C. was born to them. The family removed to Caldwell, Kansas about fifteen years ago, where M. Clark took service with the Rock Island Co. As the first passenger conductor on the D E & G he came with that road into the service of the Santa Fe, locating in Guthrie ten years ago. His wife, his son of Los Angeles, and his aged mother, of Caldwell, Kansas, were present for the funeral.
