Funeral services for Jack Cahill, age 90, longtime Guthrie resident, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church. Dr. Dennis Clark will officiate with burial in Summit View Cemetery. Services are directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Jack was born August 15, 1913, in Guthrie, to Marion and Beulah Everson Cahill. He died Sunday, September 7th at Cole's Rest Haven Nursing Home in Guthrie. Jack worked in the oil fields in five states for many years and was also a retired Guthrie businessman.
Jack was a member of the Guthrie Masonic Lodge #35, AF and AM; he was a 32 degree Mason, a 50 year member of the Guthrie Scottish Rite; a member of the India Shrine Temple, having held the office of President of the Guthrie chapter. He was an All-State football player in Guthrie and also played football for Wentworth College. Jack was also an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
Memorials may be made to the Organ Fund of the First Christian Church. Friends may call at the funeral home until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until noon. The casket will not be opened after the services. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home in Guthrie, daughter, Shirley Powell of Guthrie; 2 sons; Richard G. Cahill; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
