Of Mrs. Medina Crow, Born March 13, 1819, Died December 28, 1898.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we love is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled
The boon His love had given,
And, though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in heaven.
O, God, in thine infinite mercy,
We ask thy compassion to rest,
On the wear ones left here in sorrow,
For the loss of their dearest and best.
We loved her so fondly and truly,
But now our loss is her gain,
And while we miss her, our mother,
She is free from suffering and pain.
And today with the myriads in chams,
She is chanting the songs of the free,
In the beautiful golden-paved city,
That city far over the sea.
Where she is waiting and watching,
To welcome us one by one,
When the summons shall come for us,
To tell us our life work is done.
There we will joyfully meet her,
And hands clasp once more as of yore,
There no sad words will be spoken,
But will rest, sweetly rest, evermore.
