Funeral services for Rose Elizabeth Ford Downey, 81, of Pawhuska, Okla.,
will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 1999 at The First Christian Church, 814
Prudom, Pawhuska. Reverend Ronald Eldridge will officiate. Services are under
the direction of Johnson's Funeral Directors of Pawhuska, Okla.
Interment will be in The Pawhuska Cemetery. Rose was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Morrison, Okla.
to Warren Edward Ford and Grace Elizabeth (Daffron) Ford. She died Tuesday,
Nov. 2, 1999, in St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. Rose's family moved
to Coyle, Okla. when she was a child. She attended school and graduated from
Coyle High School. On Nov. 24, 1937, James T. Downey and Rose Elizabeth Ford
were married in Guthrie, Okla. They made their home on a ranch north of
Pawhuska for more than 50 years. After Jim's death, Rose moved to town and
continued to run the ranch. Rose was an active member of The First Christian
Church, The Christian Women's Fellowship, The GFWC-Heeko Club, The P.E.O., The
Pawhuska Hospital Auxiliary, The Osage County Cattlewomen and The Red Eagle
Home Extension Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, Oct. 13,
1988. She is survived by her brother, Edward Ford and wife Gail of Coyle;
three daughters: Joyce Ward and husband Edward of Pawhuska, Carol Henry and
husband Charles of Borger, Texas, and Kathy Ricci and husband of Millville,
N.J.; four grandchildren: Christopher Ward of Pawhuska, James Henry and wife
Jennifer of Tulsa; Jeffrey Henry of Stillwater, and Stephanie Jones of Las
Vegas, Nev.; three great-grandchildren: Rose Allison, Kathryn Elizabeth and
James Edward Ward of Pawhuska and a host of other family members and friends.
