Funeral services for Ronald Joe Duke, 56, of Guthrie, OK, were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2006 at Smith Memorial Chapel, Guthrie, with Reverend Denis Hanrahan of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guthrie, officiating. Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Ron was born on November 26, 1949 in Perryton, TX, to Joe Boyd and Rose Margaret (Ondracek) Duke. He died March 28, 2006 in Guthrie. He worked in the oil and gas industry for many years. He also was in the business of automobile sales before retiring in 2001.
He loved sports and much of his time was spent coaching little league teams and following his kids in their activities. He was involved in high school booster clubs and volunteered countless hours in the project of remodeling the baseball field at Dunan High School.
Ron married Debbie (Croy) Duke on September 4, 1983. He is survived by his mother, Rose Duke of Guthrie, two sons, Brent Duke of Edmond, OK, Scott Duke and his wife Kari of Houston, TX, two daughters, Ginna Duke of Duncan, OK, Trisha Sheiver and her husband Matt, of Norman, OK, four grandchildren, Nicholas and Kyle Sheiver of Norman, OK, and Blake and Luke Duke of Houston, TX, and special friends and family who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Duke in 1995, and his brother, Weylin Duke in 2006.
The family equests in lieu of flowers, donations are made to First Bank and Trust Company, DUncan, Oklahoma, for the Ron Duke Family Support Trust or the American Heart Association.
