Mrs. Fern B. Frank
Mrs. Fern B. Frank, 84, died Thursday evening, May 12, 1988 in Ponca Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born April 5, 1905 in Orlando, Okla., she was one of 15 children of Virgil Thomas and Mary Brindley Huffer. She attended school in Orlando and Guthrie and married Carl A. Frank at Guthrie, where they made their first home.
They later moved to Grainola where they engaged in ranching. In the early 1950's they moved to the Guymon area and continued ranching.
Mrs. Frank was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Guymon, enjoyed working cattle and always weighed cattle for her husband, who was an order buyer for many years. She also enjoyed quilting, sketching and painting, winning first prize at the Texas County Fair one year for a painting.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Frieda) Hall of Burbank, and Mrs. John (Jean) Sorenson of Wright, Kan.; a son, Bud Frank of Grainola; one brother, Virgil T. Huffer of Guthrie; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Bernice) VanMeter of Guthrie and Mrs. Clarence (Viola) Morton of Amarillo, Texas, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Frank in 1980, five brothers and six sisters.
Graveside service will be held in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon at 3 p.m. Monday with the Rev. James L. Mahan, rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Guymon, officiating. Gill-Lessert Funeral Home, Ponca City, is in charge of arrangement.
A memorial fund has been established with Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, and contributions maybe made in Mrs. Frank's name directly to that organization, 8225 Northeast Thirteenth, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
The casket will be closed. Friends may call on the family at the Alfred Hall residence, Route 1, Burbank.
