Funeral services for Dealy Townsend Gillispie, 90, of Langston were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City with the Rev. Gregory McCarroll of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Ada under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gillispie was born Oct. 31, 1912 in Jackfork, Oklahoma to John and Mary Lucy Nero Townsend. She died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at her home in Langston.
She grew up in the Ada area and went to school at Pleasant Hill. She was a homemaker who, in her early years as a young woman, understood the value of the extended family and influenced the lives of countless numbers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters, three children and her lifelong companion, Cyrus Hale Hailey.
Survivors include four sons, Vernon Clifford Nolen of Oklahoma City, Dave Albert, Jr. of Philadelphia, Lester Otis Albert of Ada and John Terry Gillispie and wife Skyler of Stillwater; two daughters, Dr. Jo Ann Clark and husband Dr. Lester Clark and husband Dr. Lester Clark, Sr. of Langston and Pamela Gillispie Birdine of Stillwater; 25 grandchildren and their spouses, 56 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Irene Davis of Oklahoma City; one brother, Otis Townsend of Kansas City; Mo.; many nieces and nephews, extended family and host of other relatives and friends.
