Hester Alice (Powell) Wegner Gillett, 88, was born July 3, 1911 at Pleasant Valley, Okla. to Herschel and Emma (Baker) Powell. On April 4, 1928 she was wed to Walter William Wegner, to this union were born two daughters, Helen Mae Gillett and Jo Ann Groom.
In 1973, she married Ernest G. Gillett.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; one granddaughter, Bonnie Lu Groom; two grandsons, Thomas and William Gillett; her parents; stepfather; a brother and a sister.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen M. Gillett of Guthrie and Jo Ann Groom and husband Charles of Stroud, Okla.; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Elva Johnson of Enid.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was the first president of the organization.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m.Monday, Dec. 6, 1999 at Summit View Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home.
