The Mulhall Enterprise Saturday, Oct. 9, 1897
Horace Elmer, son of Charles and May Garrett, October 4, 1897, aged 3 yrs., 10 mo., 4 da. Death was due to a severe case of tonsilitis, the inflamation spreading to the adjoining membranes and gradually closing the air passage of the throat. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.H. Mitchell and the remains were lain to rest in the Mulhall cemetery.
There is no flock, however watched and tended,
But one dead lam is there!
There is no fireside, howsoe'er defended,
But has one vacant chair.
