Nathaniel Gooch, one of the best known farmer-stockmen in Logan county, an '89er who has lived on the same farm for more than a quarter of a century, is dead. Death came to Mr. Gooch, Thursday night, following a long illness from an incurable malady. He was cheerful up to the last and passed away peacefully and without apparent pain at his farm home two miles northwest of Lawrie township. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
Nathan Gooch was born in Linn County, Missouri, January 31, 1954. On March 4, 1873 was united in marriage to Miss Annie M. Arnold, of that county and in January, 1877, was converted and united with the Baptist Church. At the opening of Oklahoma, Mr. Gooch came to Oklahoma and settled on a fine farm in Lawrie Township where he resided until his death. Eight children, as follows, survive him and mourn his departure: Henry Gooch, Mrs. J. E. Haws, Mrs. Elva Bennett, Dan L. Gooch, Mrs. E. F. Hawes, Mrs. C. B. Martin, Miss Tressie Gooch and Roland Gooch.
