A memorial service to celebrate the life of Delpha Lee Gooch Howe, 73, of Edmond will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 at Demuth Funeral Home, 1145 W. Britton Road in Oklahoma City.
Delpha Lee was born Feb. 25, 1930 in Guthrie to Rolland and Clara Gooch. She died peacefully at her home on Monday, April 14, 2003 in Edmond after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Delpha was the youngest of five children, the others being Madge (Gooch) Marcott, Dorothy, Donald and Bobby, and grew up on a farm north of Guthrie, attending country schools and then Guthrie High School, where she graduated in 1948.
After graduation, she married Elmer Lee Howe and became a military wife, of which she was very proud. Together with her husband and sons, she traveled all over the world until Elmer retired from the U. S. Air Force in 1968. She and the family returned to Guthrie and lived there until June 1977, when they moved to Edmond so her sons could be closer to college.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, on Oct. 23, 2002, by both parents, and all of her brothers and sisters.
Suvivors include three sons, Steven Howe and wife Deana of Edmond. Elmer Lee Howe, Jr. and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City and Scott Howe of Edmond; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with many friends, classmates, neighbors and family.
The family gratefully appreciates the loving care and humanity of Hospice of Oklahoma County. Our mother was a wonderful, kind and loving person who will be sorely missed by all that knew her. We will always love you, Mom.
