Gary Jess Hamm, 54, of Harrah was born March 6, 1949 in Santa Rosa, Calif. to Jess L., and Marie H. (Sperdion) Hamm. He passed away Friday, July 4, 2003 in Guthrie, gone to be with his beloved wife Peggy Hamm.
Gary served his country with the U. S. Marine Corps for four years, from May 1967 to June 1971, at the rank of corporal in the 1st of the 9th, 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam, where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He retired from civil service at Tinker Air Force Base as a ware-houseman in 1998, where he worked for 13 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include one brother, Samuel D. Hamm of Atoka; three sisters, Paulette M. Carver and husband Don of Norman, Cathy L. Foote of Oklahoma City and Sherry L. Anderson and husband Lewis of Guthrie; his nephew, Bobby Anderson and wife Teresa of Guthrie, who cared for him while he was in the hospital and at their home from 1979 until his death; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy and his father and mother.
His wishes were to be cremated, so there will be no memorial services. Just remember him as he was. Davis Funeral Home of Guthrie in charge of the arrangements.
