Horace Edward Hudspeth was born Jan. 22, 1923, to George E. and Tillie (Gooch) Hudspeth. He went to school at Stoney Point in Logan County and graduated from Mulhall High School in 1940. He spent three years in the military and returned to farm in Logan County. He spent 35 years in the oil field. He was a Mason for 53 years and attended Abell Church for the past 40 years. Horace married Thelma Buchanan on May 26, 1958. Horace passed away December 17, 2003, at 3:15 a.m.
Horace is survived by his wife, Thelma Hudspeth, and son Ken Hudspeth, Cleburne, Texas, daughter, Gayle Dean and her husband Hollis, Hull, Texas, sister Joyce Walton, Mulhall, grandchildren, Wesley Brown and his wife, Liz, Santa Maria, Calif., Donna Spieldenner, Austin, Texas, Tracy Russek and her husband, Ron Cleburne, Texas, Kristi Ray and her husband, Alan, Mansfield, Texas, Julie Hester and her husband, Keith; Cleburn, Texas, Ceona Reed, Santa Fe, Texas, Lee Wright, Houston, Texas, Kristopher and Kasey Hudspeth, Irving, Texas, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and adopted son, Jerry Booth and his wife, Mary, Elk City.
Memorial services will be held at Camp Joy, Saturday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. Smith Funeral Home, Guthrie, is handling the arrangements.
