Funeral services for Hazel Pauline Hirzel, 82, of Pryor will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 in the First Christian Church of Pryor with the Rev. Rye Oliver and Gina McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor under the direcion of Kay Funeral Home of Pryor.
Hazel was born Jan. 22, 1920 in Galena, Kan. to Lamoin T. and Florence (Harlan) Patterson. She died Dec. 31, 2002 in Pryor.
After graduating from Ada High School in Ada, Hazel and her family moved to Guthrie, where she met her future husband Harold Frank Hirzel. They were married in Edmond on Nov. 22, 1939. Early in their marriage they lived in San Francisco and Galveston, Texas before settling in Pryor in February 1946.
Hazel was a homemaker and her hobby was gardening. She was a very active and longtime member of the First Chirstian Church of Pryor, where she served as deaconess and taught Sunday school. She was a lifetime member of the DAV Women's Auxiliary, active in the Mayes County Historical Society and a member of the Rotary Ann's.
She and Harold enjoyed travels with dear friends to various foreign countries.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Pryor building fund in her memory.
