Funeral services for John Clarence "JC" Hardnack, Jr., 76, were held Tuesday, February 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Community Church with Pastor Jim Hylton officiating. Interment was at Perkins Cemetery, Perkins, OK. Community Funeral Home, Guthrie, was in charge of the services.
John was born January 6, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA to John Clarence St. and Gertrude Laura (Cole) Hardnack. He died Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Mercy Health Center.
John was married to Margaret Francis Champion on July 11, 1948.
John grew up in Milmay, New Jersey. He met his wife in Mays Landing, N. J. They married in Corbin City. He entered the United States Air Force on July 24, 1953. John served nine years in the United State Air Force. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Staff Sergeant on January 20, 1961 in Big Spring, Texas. The family moved to the Perkins area where they lived while John worked in construction. He was a welding instructor at the Sooner Trade School in Oklahoma City. They later moved to Guthrie in 1972, where he worked as foreman of Maintenance at the Oklahoma Furniture Factory. He later gained employment for Logan County where he worked for nine years as a heavy equipment operator. He retired in 1992.
John was a member of Community Church, American Legion Post # 58, Woodcrest Fire Dept. and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4578.
He enjoyed gardening and raising poultry. He really enjoyed singing with the Joyful Singers. He loved his family and will be missed by all.
John is survived by his wife Margaret of the home, four sons; James and wife Brenda of Perkins, John and wife Mona of Cuba, Tom and wife Elona of Guthrie and Allen of Edmond; three daughters: Peggy Foster of Stillwater, Patty Hagen and husband Arlen of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Laura Bishop of Euless, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one sister Helen Mingin of Norfolk, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
